The Piceno
area has always been a
typical wine producing
area, as well as the
traditional vine's
species of
Montepulciano,
Sangiovese and
Trebbiano, other two
autochthonous vine's
species, are to be
mentioned the pecorino
(found to carry out
cloning selection in
the mountainous areas
of Arquata del Tronto
where there are
existing plants over a
hundred years old), for
the high level of
acidity and the
excellent structure
gives to the wine and
the passerina, for its
prestigious fragrance
and the excellent
arrangement to the
sparkling process and
wilting.
These vine's species,
made into pure vintage
wine, have achieved the
registered designation
of origin called
"Offida" in honour to
the town which
represents the main
wine growing territory
of the Piceno. With the
same name we can also
admire a fine red wine
obtained from the
vineyards of
Montepulciano and
Cabernet, a wine of
great structure and
complexity.
OFFIDA and its WINE,
where to begin? A
difficult dilemma when
the subjects are in
total symbiosis; one
characterises the other
in various situations
and activities, at such
point resulting
impossible not to
connect the two
aspects.
Heart of the area of
production Rosso Piceno
Superiore DOC and
Falerio dei Colli
Ascolani DOC, Offida
offers an excellent
example of the
historical centre well
conserved, of live
culture and strong
links with its
traditions.
Its carnival, one of
the most ancient and
evident recalling of
pagans and the
traditional artistic
handicraft of pillow
lace, evidences a real
live relationship with
the past.
To
conclude we can say
that Offida has, maybe
more than any other
town, maintained a
relationship with its
own origin and
identity, also keeping
its liveability,
elements that when put
together still enables,
freedom and the
pleasures of rare
beauty.
One of the wines. And
Offida is the
appropriate
chalice.
The Offida D.O.C.

territory of Offida are
